Granular Slopes (Permeable Protection)

Granular Slopes (Permeable Protection)

KRT® Geocell cellular confinement system greatly increases the stability and erosion resistance of granular materials on the slope surfaces.

3D cellular network of KRT® Geocell system improves the stability and erosion resistance of granular soils. Geocell allows engineers to construct a low-cost, low-maintenance, flexible erosion protection system on steep slopes.

Confinement of the granular infill material with Geocell system on the slope surface allows the use of smaller diameter and low cost materials. By choosing the appropriate cell size and cell depth for the chosen aggregate, a broad range of slope angles can be achieved.

Aggregate infilled geocell cellular confinement system allows infiltration of the water on slope surface, minimizing sheet flow erosion and environmental effects.

Allows Building Steeper Slopes

Allows construction of steeper embankment slopes which reduces horizontal use of land. Geocell’s 3D confinement allows construction of steep slopes using permeable aggregate infill.

Withstands Sheet Erosion

Geocell system protects the infill material from severe erosion caused by surface runoff and sheet flow. Agregate infill allows water infiltration on the slope surface which reduces sheet flow erosion and environmental impact.

Less Expensive Aggregates

Geocell system’s cellular confinement allows for a substantial reduction in the size of aggregates and allows the use of less expensive materials. 3D structural network allows the use of small diameter, low cost and even waste rocks.

Low Maintenance Slope Face

Provides a permeable and weatherproof surface cover. Geocell system offers a controlled mechanism for effectively dealing with seepage. Prevents undercutting of the subsoil by directing the flow on the cell surface.

Granular Cover Over Liner Systems

By using tendons, the KRT® Geocell system allows granular aggregate slope cover impermeable liner systems without damaging the protection materials.Read More »
